We are looking for an experienced Accountant / Analyst to join our team in Newport News, Virginia. This role is essential in supporting the financial planning, reporting, and analysis for a portfolio of multifamily residential properties. The ideal candidate will combine technical accounting expertise with strong analytical capabilities to drive accurate reporting and optimize property performance.
Responsibilities :
- Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for a portfolio of properties.
- Analyze budget-to-actual variances, identify trends, and propose actionable solutions.
- Manage the budgeting and forecasting process for property operations and capital projects.
- Conduct in-depth cash flow analysis, rent roll reviews, and occupancy trend reporting.
- Ensure the accuracy of general ledger reconciliations and compliance with internal controls.
- Support audits, tax filings, and lender reporting requirements with thorough documentation.
- Develop financial models to evaluate acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing opportunities.
- Collaborate with property managers and leadership teams to provide financial insights for decision-making.
- Drive process improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting.
- Handle other financial tasks and responsibilities as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in financial analysis, ideally within property management.
- Proficiency in financial reporting standards and advanced Excel skills.
- Familiarity with property management software such as Yardi or RealPage is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating independence.
- Detail-oriented with a solid foundation in technical accounting principles.
