About the role

Tidal Financial Group is seeking a Vice President, Trade Validation to design, implement, and own the firm's trade validation framework across all ETF strategies. This is a hands-on, high-impact role responsible for ensuring the accuracy of trades generated from index holdings or client instructions. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and technical skills with an ability to architect scalable solutions that support Tidal's growing ETF platform.

Initially, this will be a single-contributor position, focused on building the trade validation process from the ground upcreating models, testing methodologies, and validating trades directly. Over time, the individual will guide the development of enterprise-level solutions and may lead additional resources or collaborate with internal technology teams to scale automation.

What you'll do

  • Design and Build the Trade Validation Process : Develop robust methods to validate ETF trades generated from client instructions or index holdings using Excel-based models, replication logic, or other analytical frameworks.
  • Program and Process Development : Create and refine validation models or scripts (in Excel / VBA, Python, or other tools) to ensure trade accuracy across various asset classes.
  • Cross-Asset Validation Coverage : Validate trades across equity, global equity, fixed income, cash instruments, futures, options, and swaps.
  • Exception Management : Identify, investigate, and resolve trade discrepancies or model variances in coordination with portfolio management and trading teams.
  • Automation and Scalability : Partner with technology teams to transition initial tools into an enterprise-grade validation platform, providing design and workflow guidance.
  • Control Framework & Reporting : Establish governance, documentation, and reporting standards to ensure transparency, repeatability, and audit readiness.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration : Work closely with operations, portfolio management, and data teams to ensure consistent trade inputs, assumptions, and outputs.
  • Leadership and Ownership : Act as the subject matter expert for trade validation, shaping future processes, controls, and system requirements as the function matures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in ETF operations, portfolio analytics, or trading support, ideally in an asset management or ETF servicing environment.
  • Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (formulas, modeling, macros) and experience with programming or scripting languages such as Python or R.
  • Strong understanding of ETF creation / redemption mechanics, index rebalancing, and trade calculation methodologies .
  • Exposure to multiple asset classes, including equities, fixed income, futures, options, and swaps.
  • Demonstrated ability to design processes, build tools, and transition them into scalable, automated systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindsetcomfortable with ambiguity, ownership, and evolving responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technology, operations, and portfolio management teams.
