Jr. Wireless Engineer
Description
The Jr. Wireless Engineer supports the design, planning, and optimization of small to mid-sized wireless networks. This role assists with wireless site surveys, audits, and installations under the mentorship of senior engineers while developing technical expertise and contributing to project success.
Duties / Responsibilities :
Conduct wireless network assessments, including active, passive, predictive, and AP-on-a-stick surveys.
Audit existing wireless networks to evaluate performance, identify design flaws, and recommend improvements.
Assist in the design and implementation of wireless projects based on client requirements and industry standards.
Support the installation, configuration, and validation of wireless solutions in commercial and residential environments.
Monitor performance and quality of wireless installations and troubleshoot related issues.
Collaborate with engineering, field operations, and project management teams.
Document survey data, installation details, and test results.
Cross-train with other departments to gain a holistic view of wireless network deployments.
Maintain project timelines and deliverables while working in dynamic environments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
Associates degree in Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or Computer Science.
At least 2 years of networking experience in Service Provider or Enterprise environments with a focus on WiFi.
Basic understanding of networking protocols (Cisco certification a plus).
Familiarity with RF concepts, including RSSI, SNR, channel sizing, modulation, OFDMA, WPA2 / 3, DFS, etc.
Experience using wireless design tools such as Ekahau, iBwave, or Air Magnet.
Preferred Qualifications :
Certified Wireless Technician (CWT).
Experience with Ruckus SmartZone or Zone Director.
Background in telecommunications or ISP environments.
