Senior Project Manager – Healthcare Construction (DMV Region)

Location : Rockville, Maryland

We are partnering with a leading general contractor in the Mid-Atlantic region known for delivering some of the area’s most sophisticated commercial and institutional projects. The firm has a strong presence across the DMV market and a long-standing reputation for excellence in construction management, innovation, and client relationships. They are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead major hospital construction projects—from new builds to complex renovations—for top healthcare clients in the region.

Position Overview

The Senior Project Manager will serve as both a seller-doer and project leader, responsible for managing all aspects of healthcare construction projects while cultivating and maintaining strong client relationships. This individual will represent the company with regional health systems and institutions, ensuring seamless project delivery and adherence to the highest safety, infection control, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of hospital construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality goals are achieved.
  • Serve as the primary client contact and trusted partner for health system stakeholders, including facilities, planning, and capital program teams.
  • Oversee internal project teams, field operations, subcontractor management, and coordination with design professionals.
  • Participate in business development activities and maintain relationships with key healthcare clients (Inova, MedStar, Johns Hopkins, NIH, Children’s National, etc.).
  • Ensure full compliance with healthcare-specific requirements, including CHC, ICRA, and interim life safety measures.
  • Manage project documentation, change management, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead project meetings, reporting, and coordination with owners and design partners.
  • Support preconstruction efforts, including estimates, phasing plans, and constructability reviews.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in healthcare or hospital construction management with a general contractor.
  • Proven track record leading complex hospital projects (ground-up and renovations) in active healthcare environments.
  • Strong familiarity with regional health systems and institutions (Inova, NIH, Johns Hopkins, MedStar, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of healthcare-specific construction requirements including CHC, ICRA, infection control, and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills; ability to function as a seller-doer in a relationship-driven market.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a comprehensive and competitive compensation package. The total rewards program includes a strong base salary aligned with experience and market value, plus an annual performance-based bonus. Employees participate in an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), with annual company contributions typically ranging from 10% to 25% of base salary, creating significant long-term ownership value. The company also provides a 401(k) plan with company match, 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families, and three to four weeks of paid time off plus company holidays. A monthly vehicle allowance of approximately $1,100 supports regional project travel. This structure provides both immediate financial strength and long-term wealth-building potential through ownership participation, retirement benefits, and a supportive culture of growth and opportunity.

    Why This Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a well-established general contractor with a strong regional footprint and a robust pipeline of healthcare work. The selected candidate will have the ability to lead flagship projects for some of the region’s most prominent healthcare clients while influencing growth and client strategy across the DMV healthcare market.
