RWJBarnabas Health, the largest integrated healthcare system in New Jersey, is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic leader in Acute Care Surgery Program at Monmouth Medical Center (MMC) in Long Branch, NJ.  This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader to develop and grow an evolving model of acute care surgery services in a busy community setting. MMC is currently building a robust program in Emergency General Surgery (EGS) with robotics as a component of program as well as Surgical Critical Care (SCC) program to support the department of surgery. The Director will have 80% clinical and 20% administrative responsibilities, with on-call coverage required.

The anticipated salary range for this position if hired to work is $600,000 to $830,000 per year.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidates educational background, skills, and professional experience

Position Overview :

  • Provide strategic and clinical leadership to establish a comprehensive Acute Care Surgery program
  • Oversee the development and implementation of Emergency General Surgery
  • Deliver direct patient care in emergency general surgery and support critically ill surgical patients in the postoperative period.
  • Lead and mentor residents and medical students in collaboration with Rutgers University School of Medicine
  • Support ongoing research efforts in Acute Care Surgery
  • Collaborate with hospital and system leadership to advance programmatic goals

Candidate Requirements :

  • Board-certified / eligible by the American Board of Surgery with added qualifications in Surgical Critical Care
  • Fellowship trained in Surgical Critical Care
  • At least 7 years of relevant clinical and leadership experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching, research, and scholarly activity
  • Prior experience in program development preferred
  • Academic rank with Rutgers University commensurate with experience
