Position : Data Engineer
Location : Hybrid 3 days / week in Newark, NJ
Duration : 6-month contract to hire
Overview :
We are seeking experienced Data Engineers to join a leading financial services organization. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in cloud-based data platforms (AWS) , Agile delivery , and modern data tools such as Microsoft Fabric, Power BI , and Purview . This role involves building and optimizing scalable data pipelines, ensuring data integrity, and supporting enterprise-level analytics and governance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities :
Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and ETL processes in AWS .
Work within an Agile environment to deliver high-quality data solutions.
Develop and optimize data models to support analytics and reporting.
Implement and manage data governance frameworks using Microsoft Purview .
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Data Scientists, BI Developers, Analysts).
Integrate and support Microsoft Fabric for unified data experiences.
Develop dashboards and data visualizations using Power BI .
Required Skills & Experience :
5 10 years of experience in data engineering roles.
Strong proficiency in AWS data services (Glue, Redshift, S3, Lambda, etc.).
Proven experience in data modeling (conceptual, logical, and physical).
Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI .
Knowledge of data governance tools , ideally MS Purview .
Strong SQL and Python skills.
Experience working in Agile / DevOps environments.
Financial domain experience is a plus.
Nice to Have :
Experience with Databricks or Spark.
Exposure to Azure or hybrid cloud data ecosystems.
Understanding of data quality, metadata management, and lineage tracking.
