Portfolio Manager
The Portfolio Manager takes primary responsibility for the underwriting process, portfolio administration, and credit quality of assigned portfolio partnering with lenders and other stakeholders both within the Bank and externally.
Support the commercial lending process through underwriting, policy knowledge, credit structuring, and risk assessment in credit request packages for assigned portfolio. Ensure packages are complete, accurate, and properly documented.
Working directly with commercial lenders, treasury management, and other team members to effectively grow fees, deposits, and portfolio revenue by presenting financial solutions to customers.
Responsible for the full cycle of loan request process; from conducting preliminary evaluation, to entering and maintaining client information in the commercial database, to providing full financial and market analysis and preparing a recommended term sheet.
Contribute to the Market's success in meeting / exceeding volume and production goals; accompanies lenders during sales calls to assist with account details, relationship building, and product recommendations.
Primary liaison with internal and external stakeholders to include various Bank departments, customers, attorneys, and commercial lenders / leadership.
Identify and recommend changes or enhancements to the Bank's lending policies and procedures to better serve community and current market needs.
Collaborate with lenders to identify areas of concerns pertaining to a loan and in the management of maturing loans.
Responsible for overseeing renewals, document tickler and covenant tracking of loans.
Monitor loan documentation and financial statement exception reports and follow-up to clear up document exceptions in a timely manner.
Troubleshoot, report, and manage activity on delinquent accounts at the various intervals.
Generate and provide requested reports as necessary on Team's loan portfolio.
Participate in team sales calls and attend external events and market activities in a business development role.
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field or equivalent experience required.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in Financial Services required; exposure to Commercial Banking highly desired.
Prior working experience with loan underwriting and credit training is required.
Ability to successfully complete system training within 90 days of hire.
Ability to analyze financial and project statements, corporate and personal tax returns.
Understanding of basic loan structure processes and regulations associated with lending.
Strong understanding of loan documentation criteria.
Knowledge of United's services, products, policies, and procedures is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills in Spanish or additional language a plus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent interpersonal, customer relations, and sales skills.
Ability to demonstrate being a self-starter, well-organized, detail-oriented.
Ability to work well independently and in a fast-paced environment.
Travel within the local market may be required.
