This role combines traditional government relations responsibilities with program management for major international sporting events hosted in the United States. The responsibilities of the position include representing Jetr Global at events in Washington, D.C., cultivating bipartisan congressional and agency support, driving legislative and regulatory priorities, and ensuring interagency coordination leading up to the events.The Government Affairs Manager will play a central role in advancing visibility of each event, managing high-level stakeholder engagement across Congress, federal agencies, the military, and embassies, and supporting operational readiness.Key Responsibilities : Federal + Congressional RelationsDevelop and implement a federal engagement strategy to position games as a priority international sporting event.Build and maintain relationships with Members of Congress, committees, and staff.Draft and circulate congressional communications, including Dear Colleague letters, fact sheets, and briefing memos.Identify and advance legislative opportunities (resolutions, commemorative initiatives, appropriations language, etc.).Track relevant legislation and policy developments and brief leadership.Agency + White House EngagementServe as a point of contact with the Departments of State, Homeland Security, Defense, Veterans Affairs, and Health and Human Services, as well as related agencies.Lead effort for Special Event Assessment Rating (SEAR) designation and interagency recognition of games as a major sporting event.Coordinate with White House offices on events and Oval Office engagement.Facilitate meetings, prepare briefing materials, and ensure follow-up across agencies.Stakeholder + Diplomatic EngagementManage relationships with embassies, foreign delegations, and protocol offices in Washington, D.C.Support development of a dignitary program for visiting officials and athletes.Partner with various stakeholders, interest groups, and community organizations to broaden stakeholder buy-in.Events + VisibilityOrganize and execute events, including congressional receptions, policy briefings, and milestone activations.Coordinate high-level site visits to event venues by senior government leadership and congressional members and staff.Support communications and media activities to amplify games visibility as part of Americas sports diplomacy engagement efforts.Operational SupportAssist in the design and implementation of delegation management and visa tracking systems.Support Chef de Mission meetings, site visits, and stakeholder briefings.Contribute to risk management planning for visa, entry, and travel issues.Qualifications : EducationBachelors degree required.Advanced degree in public policy, political science, international relations, or related field preferred.ExperienceFive to seven-plus years in government affairs, lobbying, congressional staff, federal agency, or similar policy roles.Demonstrated success in advancing legislative or regulatory priorities with Congress and / or federal agencies.Experience with defense, veterans, foreign affairs, or immigration issues strongly preferred.Prior military service or direct experience working with the U.S. military or defense community preferred.Event or program management experience is a plus, particularly in sports, diplomacy, or large-scale public events.SkillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting legislation, briefing memos, and external correspondence.Strong political judgment and ability to navigate bipartisan environments.Highly organized with strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.OtherWillingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally.Ability to work evenings / weekends as required based on events and congressional schedules.
