Qualifications and Requirements

  • An appropriate New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE), or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS), as deemed necessary by NJDOE
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (preferred), unless otherwise specified by the NJDOE.

Basic Functions and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a program of study tailored to students' individual needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Assess student progress regularly and prepare reports.
  • Instruct students in citizenship, communication skills, and other core areas as per state law and district regulations.
  • Provide instruction in various group settings to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Maintain standards of student behavior to ensure a safe and productive environment.
  • Select and requisition instructional materials and maintain inventory records.
  • Design instructional plans and organize class time effectively.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and self-improvement activities.
  • Supervise student activities and coordinate with aides and paraprofessionals.
  • Collaborate with staff and communicate with parents regarding student progress.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Reporting and Compensation

  • Reports to : Principal
  • Salary Range : $67,000 - $111,625 (for SY 25-26)
  • Employment Period : 10 months
  • Union Affiliation : Newark Teacher's Union (NTU)
