Descripción del trabajoBoard-certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery. Significant experience in heart transplantation and durable / temporary MCS implantation. Demonstrated leadership ability and track record of excellence in surgical outcomes and program development. Eligible for medical licensure in Texas. Commitment to advancing innovation, research, and education in advanced heart failure and transplantation. Unrestricted full Texas licensed (or eligible) Competitive salary Comprehensive benefit package that includes health and dental coverage Relocation assistance Paid malpractice Methodist Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in South Texas performing cardiothoracic transplant & MCS. 39 operating rooms including a dedicated CVOR with 5 operating suites 1048 beds with over 160 ICU beds including a dedicated Heart and Lung Transplant ICU Methodist Heart Hospital consistently performs more open-heart surgeries than any other hospital in San Antonio, making it the busiest program in the region Largest Heart Transplant program in South Texas, saving over 500 lives South Texas’ only comprehensive Aortic Aneurysm Program Over 3,000 TAVR procedures performed; 400 annually Lung transplant program established in 2021 Over 150 ECMOs annually Over 1600 open heart surgeries each year Programs include VATS minimally invasive thoracic surgery and lung nodule program Over 90 cardiology physicians in Methodist Physician Practices 4 cath labs and 3 electrophysiology labs Five accredited chest pain centers Two heart failure clinics Methodist Healthcare System is the largest provider of health care in South and Central Texas with 28 facilities, including ten acute care hospitals serving over 95,000 inpatients and 500,000 outpatients annually

Job Summary :
Methodist Hospital, Heart and Lung transplant Institute, is one of the leading centers in Texas for advanced heart failure therapies, heart transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support (MCS). As one of the region’s top-performing programs, we are proud of our strong outcomes, innovative therapies, and comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to patient care. We are seeking an accomplished Cardiothoracic Surgeon to serve as the Surgical Director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Heart Transplant Program , providing strategic leadership and advancing excellence in surgical care, program growth, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide strategic and clinical leadership for the surgical component of the Advanced Heart Failure and Heart Transplant Program.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director, heart failure cardiologists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Perform heart transplants, LVAD implantations, and other advanced cardiac surgical procedures.
- Oversee surgical protocols, quality metrics, and program development initiatives.
- Participate in recruitment, mentorship, and education of surgical staff and trainees.
- Engage in research, clinical trials, and academic activities as desired.
