Job Summary :
The Advocacy Coordinator serves as a key connector between member credit unions, policymakers, and political action initiatives. This role supports efforts to strengthen relationships with legislators, promote a favorable regulatory environment, and drive participation in both CULAC and state PAC programs. By coordinating advocacy campaigns, facilitating direct engagement opportunities, and ensuring full compliance with reporting standards, the coordinator helps elevate the collective voice of credit unions. Through communication, education, and collaboration, this position fosters a strong culture of advocacy and ensures members are informed, engaged, and represented at every level of government.
Candidate must live in Louisiana and will be required to travel extensively within the state is required to support advocacy efforts and maintain connections with credit union staff and chapters.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Strengthen Member Participation and Awareness
- Develop and implement an annual engagement plan to increase awareness of CULAC and state PAC initiatives among member credit unions.
- Conduct outreach and educational efforts that clearly communicate the purpose, impact, and importance of political advocacy participation.
- Ensure that all materials and communications are accessible, engaging, and aligned with league messaging.
- Drive Fundraising and Contribution Growth
- Establish measurable annual goals for both participation rates and total contributions.
- Collaborate with league leadership, advocacy staff, and credit union champions to host creative, compliant fundraising activities.
- Track progress and provide quarterly reports on participation metrics, contribution totals, and campaign effectiveness.
- Ensure Compliance and Reporting Accuracy
- Maintain accurate and timely records for all CULAC and PAC contributions and activities, ensuring adherence to all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Coordinate with America's Credit Unions and legal counsel to stay updated on compliance requirements and implement best practices in reporting and documentation.
- Foster Advocacy Culture Across Membership
- Partner with league advocacy and communications teams to integrate PAC and CULAC participation into broader advocacy initiatives.
- Build and nurture relationships with credit union leaders to identify and empower "Advocacy Champions" within member institutions.
- Celebrate milestones and recognize credit unions and individuals who demonstrate exceptional advocacy engagement.
- Measure and Communicate Impact
- Develop consistent messaging and visual materials that highlight how PAC and CULAC contributions directly support credit union priorities.
- Provide updates and success stories to members through newsletters, social media, and events to maintain enthusiasm and transparency.
- Use data-driven insights to evaluate campaign effectiveness and recommend strategic adjustments for continual improvement.
6. Lead Efforts To Drive Grassroots Participation & Engagement
Lead efforts to drive grassroots participation and engagement in advocacy initiatives by mobilizing credit union members to take action on key legislative and regulatory issues.Develop and execute effective calls to action, coordinate outreach campaigns, and empower members to use their voices in support of the credit union movement.Track engagement metrics and continuously refine strategies to strengthen grassroots impact and participation.AdditionalAssist Advocacy team in legislative outreachProvide support in promoting and selling League-endorsed and League-developed programs when beneficial and cost-effective for credit unions.Develop, maintain, and periodically update the dues-supported CU Relations training programs. Review current offerings, identify gaps or needed improvements, and implement updates to strengthen program value. needed to ensure quality of programs. Suggest and / or develop additional training programs as needed.Be the key Luminate team member to present the Circle of Advocacy throughout membershipPerform other duties as assignedRequired Skills / Abilities :
Represent the League professionally, confidentially, efficiently, and tactfully while in contact with members both in person and virtually.Increase Advocacy awareness in the state.Remain knowledgeable about new products and / or concepts that could increase operating efficiency and profits; promote such products and services with members.Keep abreast of legislation that could affect credit unions and proactively get clear information out to our members.Develop and maintain favorable relationships with member and non-member credit unions and foster sound relationships with other entities (companies and / or individuals).Assist with Luminate's Annual Meeting and Convention as directed by ManagementGood verbal and written communication skills.High level of reading / research comprehension.Ability to communicate and work well with credit union staff and vendors.Adaptable to a fast-paced environment, one that is exceedingly complex, where flexibility is of the essence.Problem-solving and interpersonal skills are essential.Knowledge of personal computers; proficient in MS Office.Education and Experience
Associate's degree and / or minimum of five years' progressive experience in a League, credit union, or other financial institution or government agency.
