Job Overview

The Program Director of the Gender+ Justice Initiative (G+JI) at Georgetown University will provide visionary leadership and day-to-day oversight of the initiative’s programs and operations. This role will shape and implement strategic programming, deepen partnerships across and beyond Georgetown University, and lead development and grant‑seeking efforts to expand G+JI’s impact and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage programs, events, and initiatives aligned with G+JI’s mission.
  • Lead grant writing, fundraising, and resource development to support and expand the initiative’s work.
  • Oversee day-to-day program operations, logistics, and administrative processes.
  • Manage program budgets, financial tracking, and coordination with internal offices and external partners.
  • Develop and execute strategic communications, including newsletters, social media, and promotional materials.
  • Foster partnerships across campus and with community organizations, scholars, and practitioners.
  • Support governance and leadership functions, including advisory board and steering committee coordination.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Gender Studies, Public Policy, Higher Education, Nonprofit Management) preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to intersectional gender and racial justice and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in program management, event planning, or higher education / community engagement initiatives.
  • Experience with grant writing, fundraising, and resource development strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects and meet deadlines while coordinating across diverse teams.
  • Excellent organizational, logistical, and problem‑solving skills with close attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with faculty, students, staff, and external partners.
  • Proficiency in financial operations, budget tracking, and basic accounting practices.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe Acrobat Pro; experience with WordPress, Mailchimp, and other communications tools preferred.
  • Experience managing and producing digital content and social media for program promotion and engagement.
  • Technologically adaptable and quick to learn new systems and platforms.

    The Program Director reports to the Executive Director of the Gender+ Justice Initiative and collaborates with Faculty Co‑Directors, Steering Committee, Advisory Board and university partners to implement the Initiative’s mission. The position supervises student assistants and serves as a key liaison across departments and with external collaborators. This role supports Georgetown’s broader commitment to equity and justice through interdisciplinary programming, research, and public engagement.

    Pay Range

    $54,616.00 - $100,493.33
