Job Description & Essential Functions of the Mechanical Designer

Job Description :

The Mechanical Designer will perform a variety of complex technical tasks and support the sales team with pre-sales opportunities by providing engineering solutions to clients, assisting in LED display system design, managing engineering documentation, offering technical support, and performing both internal and external product training. The ideal candidate must have excellent presentation skills and be able to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. This role will work closely with internal teams to ensure effective project execution and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions :

  • Answers all technical questions from current and prospective clients and sales team
  • Supports sales strategy by participating in discussions and building technical confidence with clients
  • Conducts site surveys and prepares system proposals, drawings, and technical presentations
  • Designs LED screen systems using AutoCAD for various industry applications
  • Produces mechanical drawings and electrical schematics using 2D / 3D CAD tools
  • Drafts technical documents such as specifications, layout instructions, and installation guidelines
  • Provides internal and external training on product features and system design
  • Hosts client visits in the showroom and supports customer demonstrations
  • Assists post-sales teams with support in installation, repair, and service coordination
  • Gathers customer feedback and relays insights to the product development team
  • Participates in trade shows, training events, conferences, and product demos
  • Supports marketing by assisting with technical materials, video assets, and promotional efforts
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management

Competencies :

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks / Inventor / Pro-E or equivalent CAD tools
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.110-2000 & Y14.5-1994 drawing standards
  • Familiarity with metal machining, sheet metal fabrication, and plastic molding techniques
  • Understanding of LED display systems, AV equipment, and electrical component integration
  • Ability to develop both mechanical and electrical documentation
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving mindset and strong technical presentation skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs consecutively
  • Education Requirements :

  • Bachelors degree in a STEM major
  • Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Experience Requirements :

  • Entry-level position
  • Minimum 1-year LED / AV experience preferred
  • Language Requirements :

  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Absen Orlando office and warehouse
  • May be required to work overtime or flexible hours on an as-needed basis

  • Travel Requirements :

  • May be required to travel throughout the year for business meetings, tradeshows, training, demos, and other business-related events
  • Compensation :

  • Pay range : $55,000 $65,000 per year
