Maintenance Specialist
JOB RELATIONSHIPS
Supervises : General Mechanic and helper, when assigned
Responsible to : Engineering Supervisor and Plant Engineer
DEFINITION OF POSITION
The Maintenance Specialist is an integral part of the Engineering-Maintenance team. He performs a variety of duties in and around the hospital building, performing skilled work in installing, repairing, adjusting, and trouble-shooting various systems. He also assists other maintenance personnel in daily duties and projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Professional
High school graduate or completion of GED
Three or four years of on-the-job training or completion of four years of approved apprenticeship.
Drivers license required
Personal
Numerical ability is required to estimate materials
Motor coordination, manual dexterity, and finger dexterity are needed when working with hand tools
Requires endurance to maintain an active and varying workload : ie. standing, walking or stooping for the majority of the day, able to bend, reach and work in awkward and tight positions.
Lifting up to 100 lbs carrying 60 lbs at times.
Be able to climb and work on step and extension ladders.
Physical
Possesses a desire and ability to cooperate with others : ie. will help with supervision and training of new employees and other hospital personnel.
Ability to work independently, possessing a sense of responsibility, initiative, honesty and confidentiality.
Works effectively with others, possessing tact, discretion, and diplomacy.
