Building Engineer
CBRE is seeking a dedicated Building Engineer to join our team in Palestine, TX, for a first shift position, onsite role. As a vital member of the Engineering and Technical Services team, you will be responsible for the comprehensive maintenance and repair of a not-for-profit health system's facilities. Your duties will encompass the monitoring, upkeep, and troubleshooting of critical building systems.
Your responsibilities will include plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling systems. This position is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the health system's infrastructure, providing essential support through preventative maintenance and timely repairs of equipment and systems. This role is a cornerstone of the Engineering and Technical Services team, dedicated to maintaining a safe and functional environment. Oversee mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems.
Adhere to all relevant codes, regulations, and safety directives.
Implement and maintain an energy management program to ensure efficient system operation.
Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs, performing emergency repairs as needed.
Follow safe storage, usage, and disposal procedures for hazardous materials and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
Review inspections of systems like fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure optimal performance.
Coach others, share expertise, and lead by example, building consensus and promoting CBRE RISE values.
Work within broad guidelines, explain complex information, and impact various operational and customer activities across teams.
High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Universal CFC certification is preferred. Certifications / licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions. Prior shift management or supervisory experience preferred.
Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders, and the ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
Sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate mildly complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.
