Position Summary :

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager, Finance (Finance Partners-Corporate services).

In this role, the successful candidate as the Manager of the Finance Partners team is responsible for overseeing daily financial and strategic planning, variance analysis, and reporting to support NYU Langone Health's financial performance. This role ensures that financial management, accounting, fund flow, and budgeting principles are properly implemented and followed. Acting as the primary liaison between central Finance teams and Corporate departments, the Manager ensures alignment with accounting practices and strategic goals. Oversight and support is expected of all financial aspects in support of the Corporate portfolio, interacting with department staff and leadership, as well as executive leadership. Contributes energetically to an environment of effective financial reporting and analyses, time utilization & prioritization, compliance with regulations, and adoption of leading practices.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Financial Leadership : Serve as the lead for financial performance management, P&L, budgeting, and fund flow for Corporate Departments. Create, maintain, and analyze variance reports to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Finance Business Partnership : Assist senior leadership in implementing finance practices, ensuring compliance with policies, and resolving issues. Act as the main contact for Corporate Departments during the annual budget cycle and long-range planning.
  • Budget Management : Oversee the annual budget process for Corporate Departments, including creating baseline budgets, facilitating additional requests, and preparing presentations for fiscal year approval.
  • Accounting Compliance : Ensure proper accounting and compliance for P&L and Balance Sheet entries at the department level, working closely with General Accounting on issues like gift accounting, revenue / expense accruals, and variance reconciliation.
  • Training and Development : Develop training materials, job aids, and SOPs to communicate accounting changes, financial models, and budgeting principles to Corporate Departments.
  • Performance Structures : Establish processes for meeting budgets and assessing financial performance, including regular finance meetings, reporting, and variance reviews.
  • Analytical Support : Provide analytical support based on an understanding of key business drivers, issues, and risks. Oversee monthly financial activities to ensure compliance and performance to budget.
  • Metrics and Benchmarks : Create and maintain metrics and benchmarks to support fiscal management of the Corporate portfolio.
  • Staff Education : Train department finance and administrative staff on central Finance expectations and processes to mitigate financial risks.
  • Senior Leadership Communication : Maintain routine communication with senior leadership regarding financial analysis, issue escalation, project status, and other deliverables.

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities :

Firm understanding of basic accounting principles as well as actual to budget variance analysis and problem-solving.

Able to multi-task and manage various deliverables while adhering to deadlines.

Quick learner and adapts to changing responsibilities.

Demonstrated problem solver and self-starter.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Minimum Qualifications :

To qualify you must have a Proficient in MS Excel, MS Office software, Visio, and / or any other data visualization and project management tools.

Must have a Bachelors degree in Accounting / Finance or related field.

Minimum of 5-7 yrs. related experience including project management

Preferred Qualifications :

MBA preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $97,589.95 - $152,792.64 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses / incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
