Job Description & Requirements Specialty : CCU - Coronary Care Discipline : RN Start Date : ASAP Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Title : Critical Care Unit (CCU) Registered Nurse (CCU RN) Job Summary : A Critical Care Unit (CCU) Registered Nurse (CCU RN) provides specialized nursing care to critically ill patients in acute, life-threatening situations. The CCU RN delivers high-level care to patients with complex medical needs, requiring continuous monitoring, advanced interventions, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities : Assess, plan, and provide nursing care to critically ill patients in the Critical Care Unit, including those with conditions such as heart attack, cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, sepsis, and post-surgical complications. Monitor patients’ hemodynamic status, vital signs, and response to treatments, ensuring early identification and intervention of life-threatening conditions. Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and specialized treatments such as vasoactive medications, pain management, and sedation. Collaborate with intensivists, physicians, respiratory therapists, and other multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans. Provide patient and family education on critical care procedures, condition management, and discharge planning. Recognize and respond to arrhythmias, respiratory distress, and other life-threatening complications, implementing interventions according to established protocols. Assist with procedures such as intubation, central line placement, arterial line monitoring, and other advanced interventions as needed. Monitor and maintain mechanical ventilators, cardiac monitoring equipment, and other life support devices. Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately and in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, contributing to care planning, goal setting, and discharge planning for critically ill patients. Qualifications : Education : Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted. Licensure : Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. Certification : Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) preferred.
