Customer Technical Services Representative. Food & Bio-Science Focus.

Silgan Containers is seeking a Customer Technical Services Representative with a strong background in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related biological sciences to support our customers and manufacturing teams.

What You’ll Do:

• Serve as the scientific and technical expert supporting food manufacturers in packaging performance, food safety, and quality assurance.
• Partner with customers and internal plant teams to evaluate container performance in food applications, including processing, thermal treatment, shelf stability, and storage conditions.
• Investigate and resolve product performance concerns through root cause analysis, laboratory testing, and on-site evaluation.
• Lead packaging trials and validation activities related to food compatibility, microbiological integrity, and regulatory compliance.
• Support new product launches by assessing material performance, food interactions, and processing requirements.
• Provide technical education to customers regarding metal food packaging, food safety standards, and regulatory considerations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on food quality, safety, and sustainability.

What We Need You to Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Packaging Science, or related scientific discipline.
• Strong understanding of food processing, thermal processing, microbiological principles, food safety systems such as HACCP, and regulatory standards.
• Experience in food manufacturing, food quality assurance, R&D, or technical service within a food or packaging environment preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret laboratory data and production results.
• Excellent communication skills to translate scientific findings into practical solutions for customers.
• Willingness to travel domestically up to 25 percent annually.
