Our client, a national management and service organization serving the insurance industry’s residual market , is looking for a Commercial Underwriting Auditor to join their team on a project basis.

You’ll put your keen eye for detail to work reviewing real commercial underwriting transactions — no two audits are the same, and every one tells a story.

What You’ll Do

  • Participate in commercial underwriting compliance audits — typically 22–80 hours per project.
  • Take on 1–8 audits per year , usually between February and December (no more than 2
  • Review new business, renewals, cancellations, and endorsements for compliance with industry standards and state-specific requirements.
  • Verify accuracy in reporting, eligibility, coverage, policy limits, classifications, rating, surcharges, and documentation.
  • Perform sample-based premium rating checks for multi-vehicle commercial auto policies.
  • Follow up with carriers to clarify findings and verify compliance documentation.
  • Spot patterns, flag red flags (pun intended), and help maintain the integrity of the residual market.
  • Record findings in Excel-based audit workbooks (already formatted — no complex formulas needed).

    • Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (preferred).
  • Prior commercial underwriting experience
  • — you know your way around auto policies and state filings.
  • Excel whiz
  • who’s comfortable navigating tabs, entering data, and performing simple calculations.
  • Excellent communicator — written and verbal — with a knack for explaining audit findings clearly.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to balance accuracy with efficiency.
  • Bonus : You’re the kind of person who actually enjoys compliance .
