JOB SUMMARY :
The Buyer coordinates and facilitates the procurement of all raw materials, factory supplies, and goods / services as requested. This position is responsible for placing purchase orders for new and existing production materials, negotiating supply contracts, and should be generally aware of underlying cost drivers within various relevant markets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Planning
- Ensure the continuous availability of quality materials via timely and effective execution of enterprise resource planning (ERP) materials requirement planning (MRP).
- Utilize ERP and customer outputs to validate MRP requirements to optimize purchasing strategy and inventory build plan.
- Maintain materials requirement planning (MRP) planning parameters.
- Proactively identify and quantify risks impacting material supply and subsequent fulfilment of customer orders.
- Manage inventory replenishment with analytic inventory models including but not limited to visual management, periodic review, and order point as required.
- Be able to analyze data, set up, and run a pull system of inventory control.
- Collaborate with operations management to ensure proper inventory levels required to meet anticipated demand / monthly ship plan.
- Maintain high inventory accuracy through cycle counting and inventory audits.
Purchasing
Manage the purchasing cycle, including generating and processing Purchase Orders (PO), PO follow-up, goods receiving, and three-way match for final payment.Manage inventory levels through PO release, expedite, de-expedite, and cancellations.Provide an uninterrupted flow of materials to production.Develop strategies including dual sourcing, safety stock, and forward buying to minimize extraneous financial risk such as supplier yield, delivery, pricing, and market changes from economic or catastrophic events.Assist with invoices, goods receipt, or purchase price corrections needed for Accounts Payable processing of invoices.General
Daily reporting and measuring of department key performance indicators.Participate in strategic planning with all levels of the organization.Assist manufacturing with process improvement and lean initiatives related to supply chain.Other duties may be assigned as neededDIRECT REPORTS

Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field or high school equivalent and 3 years relevant experienceAdvanced knowledge of ERP systems. SAP experience highly preferred.Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint.Detailed knowledge of purchasing business functions, materials requirements planning, manufacturing planning, inventory control, cycle counting, and warehousing.Quantitative and analytical acumen; inquisitive nature; critical thinking / problem-solving skills; ability to challenge status quoFive years manufacturing experience. Bedding industry preferred but not required.Demonstrable understanding of Lean manufacturing & inventory management principles.Ability to analyze data to make operational decisions.High sense of urgency.Use required PPE Personal Protective Equipment : Safety Glasses and Safety VestPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
