Summary
Core Molding Technologies is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve material mixing and compounding processes in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role focuses on driving process efficiency, quality, and reliability through data analysis, standard work development, and cross-functional collaboration. Ideal for someone passionate about shop-floor engagement and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day operations of mixing, compounding, and related manufacturing processes
- Monitor process stability, troubleshoot variation, and assist with root cause analysis
- Develop and maintain documentation : work instructions, PFMEAs, control plans, and process standards
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to uptime, scrap, cycle time, and throughput
- Collaborate with Quality, Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering on new materials, equipment, and process changes
- Assist with equipment reliability programs and preventive maintenance planning
- Support material trials, product launches, and process validations
- Engage suppliers and vendors to drive innovation and support equipment / process upgrades
- Train operators and technicians on process updates and best practices
- Maintain a strong daily presence on the plant floor to observe performance and provide technical support
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Materials, or related field)1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or process engineering role (co-op / internship included)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsComfortable working in fast-paced, hands-on environmentsAbility to communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teamsProficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)Strong organizational and time management skillsPreferred Qualifications
3+ years of process engineering or manufacturing engineering experienceExposure to materials processing : compounding, mixing, plastics, extrusion, or similarAutomotive manufacturing experience, preferably with IATF 16949 knowledgeFamiliarity with Lean tools (5S, Kaizen, A3), Six Sigma, or continuous improvement systemsWork Environment & Physical Requirements
Mix of office and shop-floor environment; regular floor presence is expectedOccasional lifting (up to 20 lbs), standing, and walking requiredStandard Monday-Friday schedule; occasional extended hours or weekend work based on plant or customer needsLimited local travel; occasional overnight travel may be requiredWhy Join Us
