The Role
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher , serving students with autism and / or severe intellectual disabilities. In this role, you’ll help students build independence in academics, socialization, communication, self-regulation, and daily living skills.
This position is ideal for an educator who thrives in creating meaningful learning experiences, values collaboration, and believes every student deserves the chance to succeed.
What You’ll Do
Design and deliver daily and unit lesson plans that are engaging, goal-oriented, and aligned with curriculum standards.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and foster positive, hands-on learning experiences.
Maintain an organized, student-centered classroom environment that encourages active participation and growth.
Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and documenting achievement.
Collaborate with parents, colleagues, and administrators to support student development.
Promote fairness, consistency, and high expectations while building strong relationships with students.
Continue professional growth through workshops, coaching, and ongoing learning.
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (preferred).
Eligible for Delaware certification in Autism or licensed as an Exceptional Children Special Education Teacher (with willingness to complete 15 additional credits if needed).
Experience working with students with autism and / or severe disabilities.
Strong classroom management, organizational, and instructional skills.
Ability to inspire and engage students while fostering positive relationships with families.
