QUALIFICATIONS
Applicable State of Connecticut Certification (endorsement 071), and capable of performing the responsibilities of the position.
SALARY
As specified in the Agreement between the North Branford Board of Education and the North Branford Federation of Teachers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Consult and collaborate with teachers, administrators, support staff, parents, and community partners to promote student success.
- Be knowledgeable in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and make data-informed recommendations for interventions and supports across all tiers.
- Coordinate care and communication with outside providers (e.g., therapists, psychiatrists, community agencies) to ensure continuity of services and comprehensive student support.
- Provide individual and group counseling, social skills instruction, and crisis intervention for students experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric challenges.
- Deliver services for both IEP-mandated students and, with parental permission, non-IEP students in need of support.
- Conduct psychosocial assessments, developmental histories, Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
- Develop and write IEP goals and objectives in collaboration with the PPT team.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of special education laws, Federal and State regulations, District policies, and PPT / referral procedures.
- Serve as a mandated reporter with current knowledge of DCF policies, hotline procedures, and court referral processes.
- Provide parent education, home visits, and access to appropriate community resources to strengthen family-school connections.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to enhance engagement and improve student outcomes.
- Support staff with student management strategies and behavior intervention planning.
- Participate actively in MTSS, 504, and Planning and Placement Team meetings.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student case records.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of classroom and school-wide programs that promote positive behavior, mental health, and social-emotional learning.
