Job Summary :

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for delivering high-quality respiratory care to patients with cardiopulmonary disorders in critical care and acute care settings. The therapist provides advanced respiratory therapy interventions, collaborates with the healthcare team, and ensures safe, evidence-based care to support optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities :

Assess, plan, and deliver respiratory care treatments and therapies for patients with acute or chronic respiratory conditions.

Manage ventilators and advanced airway care for critically ill patients in ICU and ER settings.

Monitor patient responses to therapy and adjust treatment plans as needed.

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.

Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling, analysis, and interpretation.

Respond promptly to medical emergencies and perform resuscitative procedures when required.

Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, therapies, and home care management.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.

Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and operation of respiratory therapy equipment.

Requirements :

Experience : Minimum 2 years of recent critical care experience (Required)

Licensure : Active South Carolina Respiratory Care Provider (SC RCP) license — must be in hand at the time of start

Certifications (Required) : BLS – Basic Life Support

ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support

PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support

NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program

NBRC (RRT) – Registered Respiratory Therapist credential

Special Requirements : Must have recent critical care experience

RRT only – CRT not accepted

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience in multiple critical care settings (ICU, NICU, ER, etc.)

Strong ventilator management and airway care skills

Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Experience with EMR systems
