DCS Corp is seeking to hire a Subject-Matter Expert Avionics Engineer to lead integration of PGs hardware and softwareNomad chassis, Type-1 crypto, SATCOM, and OMS / UCI appsacross multiple aircraft during Major Release 2 (FY2527) in Dayton, OH . Your work ensures airworthiness, mission success, and seamless alignment with the digital thread.

Shift hours / schedules :

  • Onsite (plant or customer location)
  • Typical shift hours : 7 : 30am-4 : 30pm or 8 : 00am-5pm

    • Key Responsibilities :

  • Architect avionics interfaces linking Nomad VPX hardware to MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429 / 664, and Ethernet TSN buses.
  • Develop ICDs, signal-flow diagrams, timing budgets, and cross-domain guard rules aligned with OMS / UCI standards.

    • Certification & Airworthiness

  • Lead AF Form 1067s, E-series flight-clearance documentation, and Safety-of-Flight assessments.
  • Guide DO-254 / DO-178C compliance where applicable.

    • Digital Thread & MBSE

  • Model avionics systems in SysML / CAMEO and manage traceability to requirements and hardware baselines.
  • Run configuration boards and synchronize digital artifacts across IPTs.

    • Lab-to-Flight Readiness

  • Validate wiring, power, and signal conditioning in the Integration SIL.
  • Resolve EMI, protocol, and timing issues and ensure readiness for flight test.

    • Flight Test & Fielding

  • Author test cards and telemetry plans; support IATTs and serve as avionics lead during DT / OT flights.
  • Analyze in-flight data and drive real-time troubleshooting and corrective actions.

    • Mentorship & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Advise Government IPTs, SPOs, and OEM teams; brief SES / GO leadership on integration status.
  • Mentor mid-level engineers on open-systems, avionics integration, and DevSecOps best practices.

    • Minimum Requirements :

  • Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required
  • ActiveTS / SCIclearance.
  • B.S. in Electrical, Avionics, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering (M.S. preferred) plus20+yearsof avionics design / integration on military fixed? or rotary?wing platforms, including flight?test and fielding.
  • Expert knowledge of MIL?STD?1553, ARINC?429 / 664, Ethernet (TSN / AFDX), VPX architectures, and timing / synchronization methods.
  • Demonstrated success integrating Type?1 crypto, SATCOM / RF subsystems, and open mission systems (OMS / UCI, FACE, SOSA).
  • Hands?on experience generating airworthiness artifacts and guiding systems through developmental & operational test.
  • Proficiency with avionics E?CAD and MBSE tools (CAMEO / MagicDraw, Rhapsody, Altium / OrCAD).

    • Desired Qualifications :

  • Prior work onABMS, CJADC2, or airborne C4ISR networkingprograms.
  • Deep familiarity with DO?254 / DO?178C compliance, RCC324 / 125?15, and MIL?STD?461 EMI / EMC.
  • INCOSE CSEP / ESEP, DER, or USAF Test Pilot School academic credentials.
  • Experience integrating software?defined radios, content routing, or SDN architectures into legacy aircraft.
  • Agile / SAFe certification and exposure to DevSecOps pipelines (PlatformOne, Rancher).
