The School of Public Health - Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is seeking (1) Grants & Contracts Officer II to join the already awesome team taking the School of Public Health to the next level of excellence!

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The School of Public Health - Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is seeking a full-time Grants & Contracts Officer II (pre-award) to support faculty and researchers in sponsored research activities, including in identifying funding opportunities, preparing proposals, and ensuring compliance with grant regulations. This role coordinates all proposals and ensures compliance with grant regulations. This role coordinates all proposal activity up to the point of issuance of a new award. Additionally, the GCO II facilitates access to funding agency platforms, support faculty in setting up proposals in sponsor portals, and oversees workflow communication within the department.

Proposal Development and Management

  • Providing guidance on the format and requirements outlined in funding opportunity announcements.
  • Developing the proposal budget to ensure it meets both sponsor and GSU (Georgia State University) requirements.
  • Managing the flow of all proposal-related documents and utilizing all appropriate electronic systems for efficient processing.
  • Serving as a liaison between faculty and the Office of Sponsored Programs Administration (OSPA) on matters of submission. This includes coordinating just-in-time sponsor requests and new / amended award setups.
  • Faculty Support and Liaison

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all faculty seeking to submit grant proposals.
  • Maintain tracking systems for monitoring progress toward proposal completion and submission deadlines.
  • Act as a liaison between faculty, department chairs, Associate Deans, the central Office of Sponsored Programs Administration, and any other critical individuals or offices required for the successful management of sponsored projects.
  • System Competency and Professional Development

  • Develop and maintain competency with all electronic systems used to prepare and conduct funding searches and grant proposals. This includes, but is not limited to, the GSU research portal, Cayuse, Research.gov, NIH eRA Commons, and Grants.gov. Maintain accurate and organized records in a shared location.
  • Attend job-related trainings and workshops for professional development related to research administration best practices.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of grants and contracts, administrative and budget activities, processes, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic computer operations and software, such as spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and presentations.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective oral and verbal communication with external and internal customers.
  • Ability to multi-task, pay attention to detail, and exhibit excellent customer service .

    Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
