About the Role
Brown & Streza is seeking a highly capable and motivated Associate Attorney with experience in trust and estate administration to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Counsel trustees through all phases of the trust administration process
- Prepare trust administration documents, including asset distribution and sub‑trust funding
- Gather, inventory, identify, and value trust and estate assets
- Prepare and/or review trust accountings, estate tax returns, and gift tax returns
- Draft, file, and manage court documents, including probate petitions, 850 petitions, and 17200 petitions
- Oversee court matters from petition filing through receipt of signed court orders
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support trust and estate matters
- Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and attorneys to ensure efficient case management
- Communicate directly with clients and professional advisors
- Reasonable billable hour requirement: 1,600 hours annually
Qualifications
- J.D. from an ABA accredited law school and admission in good standing with the State Bar of California
- Minimum of three years of experience in trust and estate administration
- LL.M. in Taxation strongly preferred
Required Skills
- Strong legal writing skills with the ability to clearly and logically integrate legal analysis
- Excellent organizational, computer, and quantitative skills
- Ability to analyze facts and discovery and apply relevant statutes and case law
- Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to present case facts, legal analysis, and recommendations
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Compensation Package
- $180,000 - $235,000 (dependent on experience, qualifications and billing rates)
- This role is bonus eligible

Schedule
This role is hybrid (2 days on-site); may require more on-site work during the 90-day introductory period.
