American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Petersburg, Virginia.

Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a busy Emergency Department with strong EPIC skills and required trauma certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a 28-bed Emergency Department with 3 trauma bays
  • Busy community ED serving all ages and a wide range of medical emergencies
  • Patient population includes trauma, MVA, mass casualties, GSW, stabbings, stroke alerts, and STEMI cases
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5, with up to 6 at times
  • 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend and major holiday coverage required
  • Epic EMR is used and prior experience is very strongly preferred
  • Responsibilities include direct patient care, care coordination, assessment, and emergency interventions for patients across the lifespan
  • Fast-paced, high-intensity environment with teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Must be able to respond to a variety of medical and trauma situations
  • Pass / fail EKG testing with two attempts on first day
  • Required to provide holiday coverage as assigned
  • Dress code and orientation details will be provided upon assignment

  • Valid VA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience
  • Previous travel experience required
  • Certifications required : BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
  • CPI or De-escalation training required
  • Dysrhythmia / EKG exam must be passed; study guide provided
  • Copy of nursing diploma required
  • Proof of address required; candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility
