Director of Corporate Strategy and M&A
In this highly visible and dynamic role, the Director will work on strategy projects that support Vistra's Corporate Strategy and M&A team. Vistra's Corporate Strategy and M&A team is responsible for evaluating corporate strategic initiatives, strategic planning, originating, valuing, and executing potential M&A opportunities, coordinating investment strategy, and evaluating emerging technologies in the innovation and venture capital space. Requires a proven strategy leader who is thoughtful, collaborative and experienced in driving alignment in senior executive leadership teams. The candidate will gain exposure to Vistra's key business segments (Fossil, Nuclear, Renewables, Retail) in a highly visible role across the company. The candidate will be part of an elite team that interfaces and directly supports Vistra's senior leadership, external consultants, and other key stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities
- Drive the evaluation and execution of strategy projects across Vistra's key business segments including conducting research and analysis of strategic alternatives as well as developing recommendations and preparing summary materials
- Manage Vistra's corporate strategic planning process through coordination with broad group of Vistra subject matter experts across the organization
- Develop materials explaining the Company's strategy and growth objectives to external stakeholders
- Maintain relationships with external parties including industry peers, bankers, private investors, and consultants
- Monitor industry and competitor developments
- Support the evaluation and execution of potential M&A deals
- Prepare and present ad hoc reports and presentations for Vistra senior leadership team
- Lead strategy team members who report to this position
- Experience with structuring commercial agreements, joint ventures, partnership agreements
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
5-10 years of experience in relevant industry including management consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, corporate development, private equity / venture capital, or related fieldsExperience gained through direct involvement in corporate strategy and / or M&A transaction execution with cross-functional coordination (incl. financial analysis, due diligence, project coordination, etc.)Strong written and verbal communication skills with expertise at summarizing quantitative data and strategic considerations into executive level presentationsAdapts well to change and meets commitments in a deadline-driven environment with multiple competing prioritiesExcellent relationship building skills, and collaborative work approach from peer level up to executivesExpert with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and WordKnowledge of the energy industry (power and gas) requiredMinimum education is Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Business / Economics; MBA preferredKey Metrics
