The City of Virginia Beach Public Works Department is currently hiring a Motor Equipment Operator I to perform a variety of tasks in the Street Maintenance division, duties to include :

• Operate a dump truck to transport materials such as sand, stone, gravel, and concrete
• Operate a light-duty truck to transport tools, equipment, and supplies to and from job sites for maintenance and repair work
• Operate motor vehicles for snow removal or sanding of icy streets and roadways
• Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment transported by truck
• Perform additional job duties requiring similar skills, knowledge, and physical capabilities as those outlined above. The Supervisor will determine specific assignments based on current workload demands and departmental needs
• Comply with safety and drug testing requirements. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to mandatory drug and alcohol testing in accordance with federal and organizational policies

Must possess a Commercial Driver's License Class B or A (VA or NC)
