Overview

CONCORD IS THE INDEPENDENT, WORLDWIDE LEADER IN THE DEVELOPMENT, ACQUISITION, AND MANAGEMENT OF RECORDED MUSIC, MUSIC PUBLISHING, AND THEATRICAL PERFORMANCE RIGHTS.

With offices in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, Miami, London, and Berlin, Concord has a diverse and vibrant roster of active recording artists, composers, and songwriters, and a vast and historic catalog of works by some of the most treasured names in music history.

As the Senior Manager, Copyright, you'll be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Deal Processing function within Concord’s US Copyright department. You will be responsible for the complete end-to-end processing of all publishing agreements (new deals, modifications, terminations, extensions, etc.), ensuring they are properly onboarded into Concord’s systems and notified to all relevant external parties.

This position will oversee the day-to-day management of one direct report, which includes, but is not limited to, being responsible for delegating and ensuring tasks are delivered upon agreed timelines and standards, onboarding and training junior staff, setting goals and evaluating performance.

You are committed to delivering a best-in-class client service experience to Concord’s songwriters and publishing partners. You are passionate about implementing new technologies, processes and procedures that deliver productivity improvements and efficiencies. A growth mindset, creative problem-solving skills, attention to detail, effectively working under general supervision – and most importantly – a willingness to drive change and go above and beyond in the pursuit of continuous improvement are critical to success in this role.

Responsibilities

What you'll do:

  • Review and interpret publishing agreements, extract relevant information (copyright ownership details, royalty rates, rate variations and sub-codes, payee details etc.) and ensure timely and accurate contract and royalty setups in Concord’s systems.
  • Notification of rights to the North American CMOs, digital partners and affiliate offices. Following up where necessary with North American CMOs and other income sources to ensure Concord’s claims are accurate and complete.
  • Liaise with various departments including Business Affairs, Royalties and Finance, as well as sub-publishers, writers, clients, etc., with respect to rights research, song and statement queries, information requests, data updates and client and rate amendments.
  • Help develop, implement, codify and socialize technology and process/workflow improvements on the Deal Processing team.
  • Maintain departmental progress reports and KPI reporting.
  • General day-to-day people management includes onboarding, training and retention of staff; ensuring processes and tasks are delivered upon agreed timelines and standards; defining project parameters and progress metrics; setting goals and evaluating performance.
  • Handling and/or managing ad-hoc projects as business needs dictate or as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

What you'll need:

  • 5-7 years of experience working for a music publishing company.
  • 1-2 years of demonstrated people management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing new technologies, processes and procedures.
  • Solution-oriented with strong problem-solving skills with a drive for constant improvement.
  • Goal-oriented, self-motivator with demonstrated ability to work both within a team and independently while taking full ownership of tasks.
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail, with ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining high levels of accuracy and accountability under short deadlines and time pressure.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Able to articulate and explain complex information, adapting presentation and focus to varying audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (lookup functions, pivot tables, cleaning data, conditional formatting, etc.).

*This job is hybrid- requiring 3 days a week minimum on site.

At Concord, we offer comprehensive medical and wellness benefits, generous time off, parental leave, charity match, paid time off for volunteering, and other fun company perks. We have beautiful new offices and a culture committed to supporting everyone’s growth and development.

Concord is an equal opportunity employer. We employ, train, compensate and promote regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, veteran status, and other protected status as required by applicable law.
