Medical Assistant Senior
The Center for Addiction Recovery is looking for a new Medical Assistant Senior to join their team. This office can see anywhere from 20 - 60+ patients a day! This Medical Assistant Senior will be rooming patients, vitals, injections, etc. Schedule : Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays are from 7 : 00 a.m. - 3 : 30 p.m. Tuesdays are from 10 : 00 a.m. - 6 : 30 p.m. No weekends or holidays. The salary range for this position is $18.49 - $27.76 based on experience. This position qualifies for a $1500.00 sign on bonus as well. The Medical Assistant will assist physicians with various aspects of patient care (including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks) ensuring patient satisfaction. Responsibilities include : accompanying patients to exam / procedure room, assisting patients with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. Collecting patient information / history, taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines. Relaying instructions to patients / families. Obtaining lab / x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Completing forms / requisitions as needed. Preparing and managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately. Scheduling appointments. Verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics. Preparing patient rooms, setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocol. Cleaning exam / procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control. Managing inventory of supplies; restocking exam / procedure rooms. Checking schedules and organizing patient flow. Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed. Performing clinic procedures according to policy and procedure. Assisting physicians with procedures. Complying with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintaining strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Complying with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures. Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administering injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate. Other front office responsibilities, as required. Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies / behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned. Medical Assistant, Senior High school diploma or equivalent is required. Successful completion of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent hospital program (LPN / RN / EMT) OR successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA) OR at least 1 year of patient care experience required. Must be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in three practice category specific tasks. Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.
