Position Description : Mechanical Engineer

The successful candidate will participate in new product development projects, application engineering of existing products, and the processes that bring them to fruition. A Mechanical Engineer works with Electrical, Software, and other Mechanical Engineers, taking complete ownership of and responsibility for well-defined tasks. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing their work product for design review and for contributing to the design review of others’ work. All aspects of the product life cycle are included in the position’s responsibilities, as are specification, component selection, mechanical design, prototyping, manufacturing engineering, and QA / QC of the product. This position is classified as an Engineer Level 3 (equivalent to GS-9).

LayerZero Power Systems core competency in mechanical engineering includes mechanical system design in 3-D using formed and machined metals, formed, molded, and machined plastics, 3-D printing, machined parts, and standard mechanical components; structural analysis of parts and assemblies, welded mechanical assemblies and welding robot programming, thermal and air flow design, product life cycle management, agency certification and code compliance. The successful candidate will be able to contribute to this broad range of mechanical engineering disciplines. Excellent communication skills are essential to success in this role.
