Nurse Practitioner – Ambulatory Surgical Center

Job Summary :

The Nurse Practitioner provides high-quality, patient-centered care throughout the perioperative process. This includes pre-operative evaluations, post-operative management, patient education, and collaboration with the surgical team to ensure safe and efficient care delivery. Depending on specialty and state regulations, the PA may also assist with or perform minor procedures.

Key Responsibilities :

Pre-Operative Evaluation : Conduct thorough histories and physical exams, review medical records, and order or interpret labs to determine surgical readiness.

Patient Education : Clearly explain procedures, potential risks, recovery expectations, and pain management strategies.

Informed Consent : Ensure patient understanding and proper documentation of consent.

Post-Operative Management : Monitor patient recovery, manage pain, and address complications or concerns.

Medication Management : Prescribe, adjust, and administer medications as appropriate.

Discharge Planning : Provide comprehensive discharge instructions, coordinate follow-up care, and address patient questions.

Team Collaboration : Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and support staff to coordinate patient care.

Documentation : Maintain accurate and timely records of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.

Quality Improvement : Participate in performance and safety initiatives to improve patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications :

Active NP license and applicable specialty certification (e.g., Acute Care NP, Surgical NP)

Prior surgical or perioperative experience preferred

Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills

Excellent communication and patient education abilities

Ability to work independently and handle emergency situations

Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle (mileage, tolls, and fuel reimbursed)

Experience and Skills :

Minimum 2 years of vascular or endovascular experience

Proven leadership, organizational, and teamwork capabilities

Proficiency with EHR systems and basic computer applications

Wound care experience preferred

Work Environment :

This is primarily a clinic-based position, with an average of 15 patients per day and occasional vascular consultations in nursing homes. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens may occur; OSHA training is required. The role involves regular use of standard office and clinical equipment. Schedule : Monday–Friday, Day Shift

Compensation : Starting at $130,000 annually

Relocation Assistance : Available if needed
