Position Overview
The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering high‑quality respiratory care through patient assessment, education, equipment setup, and ongoing compliance monitoring. This role supports both Post‑Clinical Outcomes (PCO) and Home Medical Equipment (HME) services, partnering closely with patients, caregivers, physicians, and internal teams to ensure optimal therapy outcomes and an outstanding patient experience.
Core Responsibilities Patient Assessment & Therapy Planning
- Evaluate patient history, symptoms, and physician orders to recommend appropriate respiratory therapies and equipment, including CPAP, BiPAP, and oxygen systems
- Conduct in‑person and virtual assessments to ensure therapy suitability and success
Patient Education & Support
Deliver clear, confident instruction on the proper use, care, and maintenance of respiratory equipmentEmpower patients and caregivers through education that drives confidence, compliance, and long‑term successEquipment Setup & Quality Assurance
Set up, calibrate, and verify respiratory equipment to meet individual patient needsEnsure all devices meet safety, performance, and quality standards prior to useCompliance Monitoring & Follow‑Up
Monitor therapy adherence using ResMed AirView© and other compliance toolsProactively address barriers to compliance through follow‑ups, troubleshooting, and educationMaintain accurate documentation in accordance with company and regulatory requirementsCollaboration & Communication
Partner with physicians, case managers, and healthcare providers to share updates and recommend therapy adjustmentsCollaborate with marketing, CSR, and warehouse teams to support growth, efficiency, and patient satisfactionOngoing Responsibilities
Weekly
Conduct patient follow‑ups and update clinical documentationAudit respiratory inventory and coordinate needs with the Warehouse ManagerParticipate in team meetings focused on best practices and continuous improvementMonthly
Prepare and submit compliance and patient progress reportsParticipate in quality assurance initiatives and patient satisfaction effortsEngage in training and professional developmentQuarterly & Annually
Analyze patient outcomes and compliance trendsEvaluate equipment performance and recommend improvementsContribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and regulatory compliance initiativesSupport community education and outreach programsWhat Success Looks Like
