Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

Location : West Des Moines, IA 50266 (Iowa nursing jobs)

Healthcare Setting : Labor & Delivery Unit (24 beds, 2 ORs)

Assignment Type : Travel Registered Nurse (L&D RN)

Start Date : November 24, 2025

End Date : February 23, 2026

Contract Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 12-hour nights (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM)

Hours per Week : 36

Weekend Rotation : Every 3rd weekend, including holiday rotation if scheduled

Scrubs : Hospital provided

Floating : Required across all campuses (Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, Iowa Methodist)

Estimated Weekly Salary : $2070 - $2220

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience in a hospital setting, including OR experience

At least one completed travel nursing assignment in the past 12 months (no first-time travelers)

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Iowa or compact state)

Required certifications : BLS, ACLS OB, NRP

Experience with c-sections, vaginal deliveries, and triage

Ability to float to Mother Baby / Postpartum Care units as needed

Proficiency with EPIC EMR (Electronic Medical Records)

Submission of work history / resume, skills checklist (completed within 1 year), license verification, required certifications, and references

Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to Labor & Delivery patients, including c-sections and vaginal deliveries

Manage patient care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation

Administer and monitor drips (magnesium, insulin, pitocin) as part of clinical support

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes for mothers and newborns

Float to other campuses and units as required by the healthcare system

Participate in holiday and weekend rotations as scheduled

Maintain accurate patient documentation using EPIC EMR
