Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with at least 2 years of ICU experience and current WA or compact RN license to work in a hospital float pool setting.
Responsibilities
Position is in a hospital float pool covering ICU, PCU, Med-Surg, ED holding, rehab, and other inpatient unitsWork at a Level III Trauma Center with a range of specialized units including MSICU, PCU, CCU, and rehabPatient population includes respiratory failure, sepsis, DKA, post-operative cases, stroke, trauma, and mixed diagnosesICU nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 2, with different ratios for other units (PCU / CCU 1 : 4, Med-Surg 1 : 5, Rehab 1 : 8)Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systemsDay shifts are 12 hours; weekends may be required depending on unit needsFloating within scope across multiple units is requiredClinical interviews are part of the hiring processSupport staff includes technicians, respiratory therapists, and 24 / 7 hospitalist and intensivist coverageOrientation includes 2 days of hospital onboarding, 1 day on the assigned unit, and additional orientation when floatingAdherence to documentation standards such as updating white boards, hourly rounding, and bedside reporting is expectedMust document pain assessments before and after administering pain medicationNo holiday requests or self-scheduling; weekends and shifts may varyUp to 5 days of approved time off possible with assignment extension for additional days requestedAny professional scrubs are allowed except camouflage; attire must be professionalFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyRequirements
Active WA or compact state RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of ICU experience requiredCertifications needed : BLS, ACLS, and NIHSSProficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, vent management, invasive line management, ostomy care, trach care, and general drainsEpic EMR experience preferredStrong communication and patient education skills essentialBenefits
