Position Summary : \n\nProvides professional nursing service by administering anesthesia to surgical patients. Prepares and administers anesthetic to patients to reversibly depress bodily functions, or otherwise desensitize a patient to permit the performance of medical or surgical procedures.\n\nPosition Key Accountabilities : \n\n1. Prepares and administers anesthetic agents to patients in order to desensitize them to permit the performance of medical or surgical procedures.\n2. Performs pre-anesthesia evaluation of the patient in order to ascertain physiological and psychological factors which influence the selection of anesthetic agent and the formulation of the plan of anesthetic management.\n3. Monitors the patient in the operating room in order to maintain the patients in a homeostatic condition and to assure that unnecessary injuries are not inflicted on the patient.\n4. Records anesthetic information on the anesthesia chart to provide a permanent record necessary for the care of the patient, to provide material for teaching, for study, and to establish a medical-legal record.\n5. Provides clinical supervision or guidance of nurse anesthesia students, paramedical, and medical students in order to contribute to their clinical training.\n6. Responds to emergency situations.\n7. Manages Human Resources activities of department in regards to : recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.\n8. Performs other duties as assigned.\n\nCertification / Skills : \n\nCurrent Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse\nCurrent Texas Licensure as APRN\nCurrent American Association of Nurse Anesthetist certification (AANA)\nBLS, ACLS and / or other specialty certification as required by department\nThe incumbent must meet 2 of 6 established requirements : \n
