We are currently seeking a full-time and onsite Academic Advisor in our First Year Advising department. This position provides appreciative advising, continual support, and strategic direction to assigned student groups and advising load. The salary for this position is budgeted for Responsibilities :
Serve as liaison to academic departments / colleges to collaborate with and support students.
Teach a first-year seminar course utilizing student development theories and just-in-time interventions to promote student success.
Advise and guide students in developing and maintaining a plan of study that meets graduation requirements.
Identify ‘at risk’ students and develop strategies to address challenges.
Maintain and complete documentation for student records maintenance.
Collaborate and assist with programming, recruitment, retention, and training activities.
Create and maintain positive relationships with students and constituents across the institution.
Excellent planning, problem-solving, organizational, project management and customer support skills.
Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.
Ability to lead collaborative groups.
Knowledge of theories and best practices as they apply to academic advising in a college or university setting.
Knowledge of student informational systems (Banner, Degree Works, AdvisorTrac).
Basic skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience in Higher Education student advising.
