Accounts Payable Specialist (Temporary Contract) – Orange, CA

A large construction equipment service company in Orange, CA, is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist for a temporary contract role . This position is critical to the finance team, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities :

Process invoices accurately, ensuring compliance with company policies and approval processes.

Perform three-way matching and review GL coding for accuracy.

Communicate with vendors to resolve inquiries and discrepancies while maintaining positive relationships.

Ensure timely and accurate vendor payments .

Set up new vendors and request W-9 forms.

Review and process employee expense reports , verifying receipts and adherence to company policies.

Order and manage company credit cards , monitoring balances and limits.

Prepare and process electronic and manual payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers).

Reconcile vendor statements, payments, and transactions .

Monitor AP aging reports for accuracy.

Assist in month-end closing , including accruals and reconciliation of the AP sub-ledger.

Prepare, file, and distribute annual 1099 forms .

Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and relevant regulations .

Support annual audits in collaboration with the Controller.

Identify and suggest process improvements within the AP function.

Provide backup support to other AP team members.

Assist with ad hoc projects and administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements :

Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).

Minimum 3 years of experience in Accounts Payable or a similar role.

Construction industry experience strongly preferred.
