Position Overview : The Construction Manager will lead and manage the construction activities for utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. This role involves working closely with project teams, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing large-scale renewable energy construction projects, particularly in solar and energy storage systems.
Key Responsibilities :
Oversee the day-to-day management of utility-scale solar and energy storage system construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Manage the planning, coordination, and execution of all construction activities, including site preparation, foundation installation, system installation, commissioning, and close-out.
Lead a team of construction professionals, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across all project stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental, health, and safety standards specific to solar and energy storage systems.
Monitor and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of each project.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, safety, and ensure adherence to project plans and specifications.
Identify and mitigate risks related to construction delays, safety, quality, and compliance.
Review and approve construction-related documents, including contracts, change orders, and invoices.
Foster strong relationships with clients, permitting authorities, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
Implement and maintain safety protocols and ensure a zero-incident safety culture on all project sites.
Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key metrics, milestones, and any issues or risks.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all project activities, including daily logs, site reports, and quality control documentation.
Drive the resolution of technical issues and any challenges that may arise during construction, collaborating with engineering and project management teams as needed.
Qualifications and Experience :
Minimum of 8 years of construction management experience, with at least 5 years in utility-scale solar or energy storage projects.
Extensive experience managing large, complex construction projects, specifically in the renewable energy sector (solar and / or battery storage systems).
Strong understanding of utility-scale solar system design and construction processes, including photovoltaic (PV) systems, inverters, racking, and energy storage systems (ESS).
Deep knowledge of California building codes, utility interconnection standards, and permitting processes.
Proven ability to manage and lead multi-disciplinary teams, including subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
Strong financial acumen with experience in managing project budgets, contracts, and change orders.
Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, or similar tools).
Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
In-depth knowledge of safety standards and a proven track record of promoting a culture of safety on construction sites.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
