The Department of Mathematics consists of twenty faculty and offers bachelors, masters, and doctorate degrees. Active areas of research include algebraic logic, combinatorics, ergodic theory, functional analysis, group theory, graph theory, nonassociative algebra, noncommutative geometry, number theory, operator theory, probability, representation theory, statistical physics, and topological dynamics.

Position Summary

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Denver invites applications for three Visiting Assistant Professor positions in Mathematics to begin on September 1, 2025. These are non-tenure-track positions. Candidates demonstrating a strong research and teaching record aligned with the departments needs may be eligible for renewal for up to three years.

Review of applications will begin on March 1, 2025, and will continue until the positions are filled. Essential Functions

  • Teach five courses over quarters during the 9-month academic year

  • Required Qualifications

  • ABD at the time of application will be considered; a Ph.D. in mathematics is required before the start date.
  • Experience in teaching college mathematics and demonstrated evidence of research ability and potential.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to applicants whose work overlaps with the research interests of the current faculty and who have demonstrated experience or commitment to engage effectively with historically underrepresented communities.
  • Working Environment

    1. Standard office environment.

    2. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.

    3. Noise level is quiet to moderate.

    Physical Activities

    1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.

    2. Occasionally required to move about the office / campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

    Work Schedule

    While the University's administrative offices are open Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 am - 4 : 30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas. The University's academic calendars are posted on the registrar's website (the law school is on a semester system and has a different academic calendar).

    Salary Grade Number

    The salary grade for the position is UC.

    Salary Range

    The salary range for this position is $51,000-$54,000.

    The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
