The Talent Shop is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Brewer to lead our client's brewing operations. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of production, from raw material procurement to brewing, fermentation, cellaring, packaging, inventory, and ensuring all quality standards are met throughout the process. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, leadership, technical expertise and be passionate about producing high quality craft beer.
Key Responsibilities
Brewmaster Duties : Oversee the entire brewing process, including brewing, fermentation, cellaring, and packaging.
Quality Control : Maintain strict quality control standards throughout production, ensuring consistency and excellence in every batch.
Equipment Maintenance : Manage and maintain all brewing equipment, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs or upgrades as needed.
Inventory Management : Monitor depletion rates and set brew schedules to meet demands for DTC and distribution sales. Monitor raw material inventory, place orders, and maintain supplier relationships to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality ingredients.
Team Leadership : assist with brewery related staff training, introduce and inform staff of new beer releases, collaborations and tap list changes. Build positive, professional relationships with taproom staff, maintaining positive morale and joyful workplace.
Regulatory Compliance : Complete monthly and yearly reporting to ABC and TTB. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including VDACS, OSHA, ABC, TTB and health department requirements.
Product Development : Work closely with Director of Production on new recipes, innovative beer styles, seasonal releases, and collaborations.
Marketing & Events : Work closely with the marketing and sales teams on promotions, beer releases, festivals, and collaborations. Be present for some special events throughout the year. Enter competitions and represent the brand with high quality beer.
Continual Education and Sensory Analysis : continue education for brewing techniques, new styles, innovative techniques. Continue sensory analysis by Director of Production and peer industry review.
Qualifications & Skills
3+ years of professional brewing experience.
Degree or certification in brewing science, fermentation, or a related field is preferred, but not required with experience.
Experience with recipe formulation and new product development.
Ability to manage a production schedule and meet deadlines.
Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting brewing equipment.
Understanding of safety and sanitation practices in a brewing environment.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Passion for craft beer and a commitment to innovation and quality. Forklift certified or willing to get forklift certification
