    Job Description

    PURPOSE AND SCOPE :

    The Coordinator III, Budget provides oversight and facilitation of day-to-day and some long-term operations within Business Operations by providing analytical and operational support, and by performing financial and budget activities. Assigned area and responsibilities will be extensive and / or highly specialized. Maintains compliance with LSC policies and procedures and local, state, and federal regulations. Works collaboratively across LSC campus and campus Budget Manager to partner on various special projects and monthly financial or budget operations. Makes and communicates process decisions based on best practices.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Oversees daily and some long-term operations of campus finance department including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, journals, direct pay request, and procurement. Actively maintains up-to-date knowledge of area and acts as a Subject Matter Expert within area and as a point of contact and liaison for internal and external constituents
  • Performs research relevant to area of specialty. Develops, monitors, and maintains a variety of spreadsheets, databases, reports, and presents findings to internal / external constituents
  • May be responsible for ensuring and maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as audit compliance with LSC policies and procedures. Provides financial and procurement support and guidance to internal constituents on campus assigned grants, which can be local, state or federally funded
  • Supervises, trains, and develops staff. Schedules and prioritizes work and activities and develops and organizes training materials
  • May be responsible for assisting Budget Manager with month-end close and other financial / budget related obligations
  • Prepares, reviews and reconciles a variety of journal entries and general ledger accounts, including campus budget journals and miscellaneous journal entries
  • Monitors campus costs and budgets, compiles information, analyzes data, provides financial and budget support for internal constituents, as well as assists Budget Manager as applicable
  • Assists department in delivery of presentations, trainings and information sharing sessions for internal campus constituents
  • Monitors and controls resources such as office supplies and equipment needed within the department. Submits requisitions and reviews and approves / denies purchase requests in accordance with the budget
  • Takes part in and / or leads special projects as needed
  • Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

  • PHYSICAL ABILITIES :

    The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

    WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS :

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education

    Hiring salary range is $48,152-55,375

    Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
