Civil CAD Technician - Urban Development

Role Description : Huitt-Zollars has an excellent full-time opportunity for a Civil CAD Technician at our Dallas office. Civil CAD Technician will utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to draft and design land development, public works, and transportation projects located in Texas and across the US. The candidate must be able to work independently, as well as part of a team, and possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for learning and professional and technical growth.

Registrations : Autodesk Certified Professional in Civil 3D for Infrastructure Design

Education : Minimum high school graduate with classes in CAD; Associates degree in CAD a plus

Duties :

• Prepare for and attend design meetings with engineers and project managers.
• Prepare graphic materials for presentations and documents as necessary.
• Preparation of due diligence reports for prospective projects.
• Interpret drafting and design guidelines from regulatory agencies.
• Interpret record construction drawings and surveys.
• Review and markup of construction drawings.
• Effectively communicate with regulatory agencies and internal staff via email, teams, etc.
• Drafting, design and construction drawing preparation for multiple projects simultaneously.
• Typical civil engineering calculations using excel or a calculator.
• Create and modify existing surfaces using survey data.
• Create and modify proposed surfaces using corridors, feature lines, points, and grading objects.
• Create water, sewer, paving, and storm drain profiles.
• Create and modify alignments and pipe networks.
• Create and modify corridors.
• Modify styles in Civil 3D.
• Prepare construction quantity takeoffs.
• Layout and design water and sanitary sewer mains.
• Prepare residential lot's layouts, parking lot layouts, preliminary plats, and site plans.
• Assist with construction support activities such as site visits, change orders, shop drawing review, responding to RFIs, construction detail modifications, punch list preparation, etc.
• Collaboration with team members and supervisor on methods to increase production efficiency.
• Mentor and train junior team members.
• Actively participate in team building activities.
