This position is posted on behalf of the Brownsville Seeds of Literacy Out of School Time Initiative, provided by Brownsville Seeds of Literacy, Inc., 501(c)3.

Position Base Schedule :
Option 1 : Summer Only, 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 00 PM (06.02.2025 - 07.18.2025)
Option 2 : Summer 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 00 PM and School Year 3 : 00 PM - 6 : 00 PM (06.02.2025 - 05.31.2025).
Both options are temporary for one year, with the option to renew for another year.
Job Description
The Youth Development Specialist is responsible for leading and delivering high-quality educational and enrichment activities in the Brownsville Seeds of Literacy OST Initiative. This role focuses on fostering a positive learning environment that supports student development in literacy, STEM, and social-emotional skills.
Responsibilities and Duties
Plan and implement structured activities and lessons aligned with the program curriculum, including literacy, STEM, arts, and character education.
Supervise and mentor assigned Youth Development Assistant to ensure the effective delivery of activities.
Manage classroom behavior using conscious discipline techniques and developmentally appropriate strategies.
Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to parents, the Program Manager, and the Data Specialist as required.
Maintain a safe and inclusive environment that respects the diversity of all students.
Coordinate with the Youth Development Manager to adapt activities based on student needs and program goals.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelors degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Minimum two years of experience working with children in educational or recreational settings.
Proficiency in delivering structured lessons and hands-on activities.
Ability to build rapport with students and families.
