ANNUAL SALARY RANGE : $165,156.00 - 179,273.00 (Salaries are paid biweekly)

Tobe eligible for this position, an applicant must have a minimum of five years experience as a policeofficer prior to the promotion date, and must have served as a sworn police sergeant with Fort CollinsPolice Services for not less than three years immediately prior to theapplication date.
Summary :
Work related to the enforcement of laws and regulations, crime prevention, and the protection of life and property. These are sworn positions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assist in the direction of operations and personnel and in the revision of policies and procedures.
- Represents the Police Department in court proceedings and in contacts with other enforcement agencies.
- Provides direction to assigned work groups based on established departmental goals and values; serves as a role model to department personnel, demonstrating personal ethics and professional integrity.
- Acts as Assistant Police Chief when designated and executes general and special assignments in planning, administration, coordination and review of division operations as required.
- Plans and organizes work; sets goals, objectives, standards and priorities in accordance with department objectives; identifies resources needed to accomplish tasks; devises and implements alternative methods of improving operations.
- Coordinates and integrates activities within assigned work unit and other units within the police department for purposes of sharing relevant information, resolving conflicts, and improving control and efficiency of operations.
- Solves problems by analyzing and evaluating pertinent information and identifying issues; selects and proposes solutions and evaluates results.
- Makes decisions and exercises independent judgment appropriate to level of command and within established department guidelines; when appropriate, delegates authority and responsibility to subordinates for their decisions or judgments.
- Communicates information to subordinates, either orally or in written form, that clearly conveys the relevance of such materials to department values, policies, procedures and goals. Supports established departmental programs, goals and objectives.
- Advises and counsels subordinates regarding their professional development.
- Discharges duties and responsibilities as required by the duty of the assignment or as assigned by a higher command.
- Responsible for the preparation, control and review of unit budgets under their control.
- Actively participates in policy and program evaluation and analysis; assists in writing policy statements and presenting the information in an articulate fashion to employees of the department.
- Must be able to render credible testimony in judicial and administrative proceedings.

Theminimum requirement to compete for a promotion / position in a lieutenant testingprocess is five years as a police officer and three years as a police sergeant,which shall include the following criteria : Service as a sworn policesergeant with Fort Collins Police Services for not less than three yearsimmediately prior to the application due date.
Required Certifications / Licenses / Specialized Training :
Current driver's license. Peace Officer Certification.
