Job Title : Clinical Solutions Associate

Location : Raleigh, NC

Job Type : Internship (Hybrid - Onsite 2 times a week)

Educational Standing : Junior

Dates : May 19 - August 1st 2025

UCB is looking for a science-driven, upper-level undergraduate to intern with the Clinical Solutions team. Studies must have an interest in clinical research or software administration, and be interested in engaging with users to ensure their business expectations are being met. This an exciting opportunity for students, regardless of experience, to work alongside technical and business professionals focused on bringing safe and effective medicines to patients.

The Clinical Solutions team is responsible for implementing and managing the collection of software applications used to manage the clinical trials processes. These commercially available applications are configured and managed to match UCB’s business processes, and must be strictly maintained to align with FDA and international authority quality expectations.

As a Clinical Solutions associate, you will be assigned to one or more software systems during your internship.

Responsibilities may include :

• Oversight of clinical systems, including those used to capture patient data
• Developing / Updating documentation used to validate the integrity of the clinical system
• Engaging with system users to incorporate their business needs and preferences into the system implementation
• Developing and delivering system training

Learning objectives include :

Developing and enhancing problem-solving skills

Project and time management in support of meeting real-world deadlines which directly impact the success of the research programs

Building a foundation of knowledge associated with the clinical research process, which may help to identify additional career pathways

Gaining technical and business experience through exposure to various functions within UCB’s matrixed organization

UCB Career Path

The established roles within the Clinical Solutions team progress from Associate, to Analyst, to Lead and then to Principle. Each position brings with it increasing responsibility, where the current Principle, for example, is responsible for managing a portfolio of related clinical systems, and is actively engaging with business users and leaders throughout the clinical research process.

Other potential paths include pursuing more technical responsibilities within UCB’s IT teams, which tend to focus more on the technology and less on the business processes. Similar roles also exist throughout UCB’s other lines of business including the commercial and manufacturing divisions.

Qualifications

Upper-level undergraduate student studying life sciences or information systems

Strong computer proficiency

Problem-solving mentality to investigate system capabilities

Comfortable working independently and as part of a team

Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Detail-oriented, thorough and methodical

Comfortable engaging with users regarding their system and process goals
