The Staff Nurse II is responsible for direct and indirect delivery of patient care for a wide variety of patient population through the use of the nursing process and maintenance of the standards of professional nursing practice. The Registered Nurse promotes compliance and support of policies and achieves trust in professional collegial relationships. Applies CHW Core Values to the performance of every job duty. - Assesses patient and initiates Nursing Assessment. Identifies problems and formulates plan of care within the number of hours standard on the unit, ensuring that physician orders are implemented promptly and accurately. Care plan demonstrates use of nursing diagnosis, planned outcomes, and nursing judgment related to patient / family needs. Initiates discharge plan.
- Identifies deviations from expected vital signs and lab tests; documents, reports and follows through on abnormal findings with physicians / nurses.
- Documents nursing assessments and interventions accurately, clearly and concisely, evaluates and documents patient response and outcome to nursing interventions, and gives clear, concise, complete reports on patients.
- Medication administration : Demonstrates knowledge of dosage, route, action, side effects and contraindication of medications. Administers medication and narcotics following hospital policies and procedures. Identifies drug interactions, knows antidotes / treatment for medication overdose and antidotes / treatment for medication infiltration. Calculates dosages accurately; double checks with RN regarding insulin. Properly dilutes medications for individual dose. Documents medication administration appropriately.
