Clinical Laboratory Assistant

Sentara Leigh Hospital - Norfolk, VA

Full Time & Night Shift~

10 : 30pm-7 : 00am, every other weekend

40 hours / week

Job requirements :

• High School diploma or Equivalent
• 1 year healthcare or lab experience preferred

Job Description :

Sentara Leigh Hospital is a Magnet Status , 250-bed facility featuring all patient-friendly private rooms and specializing in orthopedic, gynecological and urological services. Sentara Leigh offers a contemporary care environment for general medical / surgical and ambulatory services and is home to the orthopedic hospital, which has 48 beds dedicated to specialized orthopedic care. The hospital offers a full-service Emergency Room with a dedicated observation unit, Critical Care, GI, and Oncology services. It also encompasses a Family Maternity Center.

Job Summary

Provides point of entry for all specimens coming into the laboratory. Supports technical areas of the laboratory. Labels, processes, and distributes patient specimens for testing; responsible for registration and test data entry. Monitors supply levels in specimen processing area. Operates and maintains laboratory equipment; responsible for both internal and external customer inquiry and problem resolution. Frequent interaction with hospitals, nursing facilities, and physician office staff.

Secondary Education in a Clinical setting may be considered in lieu of experience.

HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)
